Copper Foil Tips

Copper foil splits when doing inside curves?
  • Start and end your foiling at the deepest part of the curve.

Foil doesn't stick?
  • Make sure the glass is clean and all residue is removed. Warm, clean and dry glass foils the easiest.

How to get decorative foil edges?
  • You can buy scalloped-edged foil.

  • Use craft pattern shears to cut whatever pattern you desire on the edge of foil. It is best to use 3/8" or 1/2" foil.

How to choose the correct foil?
  • When using transparent glass and/or bevel clusters, choose foil based on the color of the solder seams.
  • Choose silver-backed foil if leaving solder line silver.

  • Choose black-backed foil if using black patina.

  • Choose copper-back foil if using copper patina.
