What are the different types

and

Which ones do you need?

The pencil cutter is long and thin like a pencil, thus its name. The pistol cutter is angled and has a grip handle.

Which one you choose is based on what is comfortable to you. I personally like the pistol grip cutter.

Hand glass cutters need cutter oil to lubricate the cutter wheel, allowing it to roll smoothly for a good, continuous score.

You can choose between a glass cutter that has a built-in self-oiling system, or one that you dip in the oil as you score glass.




Glass Saws

A ring saw has a circular diamond coated blade which allows you to cut in all directions.

The band saw has a linear diamond coated blade and can cut glass sheets up to 3/4 of an inch thick.

The wire saw has the thinnest blade giving you more flexibility for cutting intricate shapes and narrow cut lines.

All three types of glass saws come with various built-in features. It's really up to you as to which one to choose, based on your personal needs.

For the past 5 years, I have used the Taurus ring saw.




Circle and Strip Cutters

There is a variety of manufacturers that make circle and strip cutters.

A circle cutter allows you to score the glass in one evenly continuous rotation. The size of the circle or oval you can cut, depends on the type of circle cutter you choose.

A strip cutter has a built in straight edge.

Most systems can do both circles and strips.




Cutting Systems

A cutting system enables you to cut accurate repetitive geometric shapes.

The cutting system I have used is the Morton System. I have found it easy and reliable.

There are other manufacturers that make cutting systems, so check them out and select one based on your needs.
