Choosing the Right Solder
When Making Stained Glass

solder

Solder, with copper foil, is what holds the individual pieces of glass together in a stained glass panel.

What is It?

It is a mixture of alloys tht usually comes on one pound spools.

Types

The types are determined by the mixture of alloys used in producing it.

A 60/40 combination will melt at a lower heat than a 50/50 combination of alloys.

A 63/37 is used for decorative effect.

Manufacturers

You will find a variety of manufacturers.

Canfield and Mastercraft are manufacturers commonly used.

I have used other brands, finding minimal quality difference.

Choosing the right solder gives a professional look
to your stained glass art work.
