Stained Glass Workshop
![]() Stained glass workshops can be basic or elaborate depending on your space, needs and preferences. You will need a table or work surface and a place to store glass, supplies and tools. Your workshop can be a take-out and temporarily set up shop, a corner in the garage, an unused closet, a corner in the basement or a room. Our Workshop is located in the basement in a space approximately 5' x 10' and recently has spilled over into the adjacent furnace room. We have two table areas. One table (30" x 62") adjusts up and down which we use for design, layout, assembly, foiling and soldering. The adjustable table is a perk not a necessity. The other table (3' x 3') is used for cutting/scoring glass. Within this area we have an open closet 84" tall with shelves (2'x 2") and 2 additional shelves (6" x 5") on the wall above the big table. For additional storage there are glass bins located above the smaller table. And yes, there is a small TV in the corner. Your workshop will need good lighting. Natural lighting is great, but not necessary. When planning your lighting, keep in mind shadows can hinder accurate glass cutting. Types of lighting can include florescent, halogen, spot lighting and/or incandescent.
