Strengthening Stained Glass
Using Reinforcements

Within these tips for strengthening stained glass, you will find ways to insure your stained glass panel does not bow or warp.

When should reinforcements be used?
  • Stained glass panels more than 3 feet square should be reinforced.

When do I need to think about using reinforcement bars or rods?
  • Reinforcing bars or rods need to be considered before designing the window, otherwise they can compromise the design of your work

How are reinforcement bars attached to a panel?
  • Reinforcement bars are soldered to the back of the panel by pre-tinning. Then they are soldered in several places on the panel.
