The Gilbert Collection is honoured to welcome Taco Dibbits, Director of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, as speaker for its 2023 Annual Lecture. He will address the history of this world-class museum’s collection, between governmental initiatives and private donations.

The Rijksmuseum is one of the most renowned museums in the world, notably celebrated for its impressive collection of Dutch masters’ paintings. Since its major renovation from 2003 to 2013, the institution has also been acclaimed for its pioneering programme to provide wider access to their collection, and for their remarkable work on provenance histories.

During this lecture, Taco Dibbits will focus specifically on the essential contributors and contributions to this world-class institution, some of which can be controversial today.
