Books and Magazines

Books and magazines can be an excellent source for stained glass designs.

Pattern Books For Stained Glass

There are hundreds of books to choose from with designs.

These books can be found in libraries, bookshops, local retail stores for stained glass and by manufacturers of stained glass.

Coloring books

Coloring books are a great way to find patterns for your stained glass projects.

Designs are very clear and simple.

Magazines

Stained glass and art magaziness are another source to find patterns for stained glass.

These periodicals can be bought from local bookstores or online.

Design Your Own Pattern

Designing your own pattern isn’t as complicated as it may sound. You can choose to draw your own pattern with paper and pencil, or you can use computer-generated software.

Hand-drawing patterns

If drawing is one of your strengths, you can draw a pattern of your own.

If you have a picture, you can enlarge it to the size you want, and then trace it.

No matter which system you use, be sure to add lines (solder lines) as glass doesn’t like sharp bends and turns.

Software for Stained Glass

One of the most popular stained glass software is Dragonfly’s Glass Eye.

It comes with more than 300 ready-made patterns and allows you to modify, combine, scan or design a pattern.

I’ve been using this softwarre for a number of years, and I like it’s ease and flexibility.
